These are goals real people achieved using GOAL! and The 30-Day Goal Track

Morgan, Chiropractor

  • Goal: Career Transition

  • How long have you been considering this goal? "Forever – about 10 years"

  • Have you started this is the past and if so, how many times? "6 times"

  • How confident do you feel reaching this goal? "2 (scale from 1-10) I keep getting stuck"

Morgan had a thriving chiropractic business; however, she always wanted to put her design talents to use. She loved renovating homes – had done this several times for herself – and wanted to translate that to an income producing career. She had tried to do this in the past, however, would lose her focus and with it, her motivation. There was an emotional element to this decision as well, as Morgan would be leaving a 20 year career, patients who loved her, and financial stability. The Goal Planning Worksheet in GOAL! helped Morgan develop a workable plan that would keep her focused on the right activities. The plan she created gave her the greatest likelihood of success. In addition, the exercises and the stories in the 30 Day Goal Track helped her realize the importance of living her dreams, and that kept her motivated.

Morgan: “It was scary at first, but I did it. I closed down my practice and soon bought my first two properties. It wasn’t always easy, but the important thing is that I accomplished what I set out to do. GOAL! helped me make it happen. Finally. ”

  • Brenda, Marketing Executive

  • Goal: To find a job in a big company

  • How long have you been considering this goal? "2 years"

  • Have you started this is the past and if so, how many times? "I haven't stopped trying"

  • How confident do you feel reaching this goal? "Feeling less confident as the months go by"

Brenda’s work history reflected experience with a large number of small start-up companies. Unfortunately, most of these companies were financially unstable, so her tenure at each company was relatively short. At the time out of work, Brenda decided that she needed to find a stable company for her next, and hopefully long-term, job.

Brenda: “Your book helped me focus on the right companies and kept me motivated to follow through. The exercises made me feel good which came through in my interviews. Long story short, I got a great job with Cisco.”

  • Deanna, Landscape Designer

  • Goal: To introduce a new service for her business

  • How long have you been considering this goal? "3 years"

  • Have you started this is the past and if so, how many times? "Several times"

  • How confident do you feel reaching this goal? "It's harder than I thought"

Deanna is an international award-winning designer, known for creating beautiful gardens that enhance the look and value of homes across Northern California. As much as she loved designing, she did not like the project management part of her job. She tried to figure out a way to introduce a service that would allow her to do more of what she enjoyed.

Deanna: “GOAL! made the biggest impact on my business. The step-by-step process, helped me figure out a way to streamline my business. I achieved my goal “yea!” and introduced a service which I’m very happy about called “On the Spot Design”.

  • Jim, Sales Manager

  • Goal: Lose 40 Pounds

  • How long have you been considering this goal? "3 years"

  • Have you started this is the past and if so, how many times? "It's been on-going"

  • How confident do you feel reaching this goal? "Not very"

Jim had been trying to lose this weight for the past three years. He would do well for a while but then go back to his old ways. Obviously, he knew the keys to losing weight were eating better and exercising more, however, he just couldn’t stick to it. GOAL! helped him develop the habit of working on his goal. Spending just a few minutes a day doing the exercises in the 30 Day Goal Track helped him focus on his goal every day and keep the momentum going. Importantly, it gave him strategies for dealing with temptation and ways to get back on track. He kept himself motivated by celebrating milestones.

Jim: “I reached my goal. Formalizing a plan and writing things down on paper, like objectives, thoughts, mini goals, etc. were all very helpful. I’ve been using the book as an ongoing reference guide and would definitely recommend it.”

  • Laura, HR Consultant

  • Goal: Learning to play bridge

  • How long have you been considering this goal? "1 year"

  • Have you started this is the past and if so, how many times? "Have not tried"

  • How confident do you feel reaching this goal? "Not sure"

Learning to play bridge was something that Laura had wanted to do for years. Her sister played in tournaments and always talked about how much fun it was and how great it would be if they could play as a team. Laura wanted to do this however, what held her back was time. With a 10 year old son she didn’t think she had the time to learn a complicated game. GOAL! gave her the structure she needed to carve out small segments of time during the week to focus on learning bridge.

Laura: “I loved the structure, and although I consider myself fairly disciplined about getting things done, I know I made far more progress toward my objective than I would have solo. I've still got work to do on becoming a 'competent' bridge player - but I am definitely launched!”
